Kwik and Easy Kid Friendly Health Swaps

Crackers: Choose nutrient dense and minimal ingredients.

May go to’s: Simple Mills Crackers

 Flackers Flaxseed Crackers

Cookies: Instead of cookies think of ways to make something like a cookie. Like this simple apple cookies recipe below:

Thinly slice an apple into circles. Once you’ve made all of your slices you can now spread them with your favorite nut butter and sprinkle with chocolate chips, raisins, low sugar granola, etc.

Almond Butter: Organic Almond Butter

Granola: WildWay Granola

Chocolate Chips: Lilys Chocolate Chips

Popsicles: Take these to the next level by providing your pops with all natural ingredients that give you more nutrition then sugar in each one.

My Recipe:

1.5 cups unsweetened Coconut Water

.5 cup pineapple juice or you can use mineral water ( lower sugar and cals)

1-1.5 cups cut up fresh fruit of your choice ( i like to use berries and pineapple)

handful of fresh mint chopped

Instructions:

Add all ingredients into a medium bowl and mix well.

Use a 1/4c measuring spoon to spoon out ingredients into a popsicle mold/

Place in freezer and let freeze for several hours and enjoy!

Gummies: These are an easy grab and go candy that every kid loves. The one thing they dont tend to have is a lot of nutrition. One way to make these better is using beef gelatin like my favorite one listed below in the ingredient list below.

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the juice and the agave 5  or stevia and heat over medium heat until steaming hot (just before boiling).
  2. Lower the heat to the lowest setting. Whisk in the gelatin one tablespoon at a time, making sure each tablespoon is fully dissolved in the liquid before adding the next.
  3. Once the gelatin is fully dissolved, remove from the heat and use a dropper or small spoon to put in your gummy molds.
  4. Put in the refrigerator to firm up completely – if your molds are small, it should only take about 10 to 15 minutes for them to firm up enough to pop out.
  5. If you don’t have enough molds to use all the gummy mixture at once, you can pour the extra into a small pan and cut them into squares, OR you can gently reheat/melt the mixture over low heat when your molds are empty and ready to be used again.
  6. Store the gummies in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Repeat for other flavors!

Dips/Chips & Veggies:Make use of fiber filled dips to dip your favorite nutrient dense chip or raw veggies.

My go to’s:

Dips: Siete Sprouted Bean Dip

 Hope Foods Hummus

Chips:Siete Grain Free Chips

Jacksons Honest Sweet Potato Chips
