10 Ways to Stay Motivated

Motivation: the general desire or willingness of someone to do something.

We all have the days we feel like we can conquer the world and then others where we feel as though we will never get to that goal we really want. Today I want to help you change the attitude to the I can conquer the world attitude everyday. Here are a few simple ways to change your thoughts to being positive and staying that way.

Have an expectancy attitude: if we expect we will get the best and do the best in turn we will do and get the best. We can’t go into that next job interview or workout thinking I’ll never get the job or I’ll never run faster or squat with more weight. If we go into something with these thoughts it displays no confidence whatsoever which others can most definitely see. Be confident in yourself! Tell yourself you can!

Take control over what you can and stop worrying about what you can’t: Think about what you can do or change and do it. Stop letting whatever it is worry or bother you if you cannot change it. If you feel like you’re in a situation that is toxic to your success get out of and just let it go and be you. The people that matter most will see how great you are and will be there to cheer you on.

Read and Listen to positivity: Read books that are positive from people who have made it where they are today. One of my favorite things to do is listen to podcasts in the car. My 2 favorites for motivation and innovation are : https://www.npr.org/podcasts/510313/how-i-built-this and https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-daily-ambition-with-greg-rollett/id1179503744?mt=2

Surround Yourself with Positive People: find those people that are a positive light. If you have those coworkers or individuals you know that are always looking on the bright side surround yourself with them. You will soon see their positivity will start to rub off on you and you may see things in a totally different perspective.

Post Positive Affirmations: Keep post it notes on your mirror in your bathroom or in your planner to daily remind yourself that you can! Continue to think about what you have achieved thus far and how close you are to reaching a certain goal and what you might need to do to get there.

Learn From Mistakes Instead of Repeating them: think about a time when you may have made a mistake that set you back and remember you don’t want to revisit that. Think about what you could do differently to be sure that you don’t face another set back.

Make a Plan: Making a plan will not only give you something to work toward but it will allow you to really outline what you need to do start to finish to get there. Just like with nutrition if you fail at prepping your food for the week more than likely you will fail your healthy eating. The same goes for reaching goals or meeting deadlines.

Be sure to celebrate every accomplishment: Whether its big or small give yourself a pat on the back whatever the accomplishment maybe. Reward yourself when you reach that goal it could be going out to eat a nice restaurant to celebrate, buying a new workout outfit, a massage, a facial, etc.

Make a Support Group: Going back to finding those people who are positive, find those you can bond with and make a group to cheer each other on. A good example would be if you both have the same goal to lose weight; exchange recipes, go to the gym together, take a fitness class together, or prep food for the week together.

Look Back at Previous Accomplishments: Often times we tend to think about how we aren’t where we wish we were at this point in our life. Thats all rubbish, think about where you were and how far you’ve come. This could be what your job used to be and how much you wanted a better one and now you are in that job. Another could be your main goal is to lose 50 lbs but you’ve only lost 20 well guess what you still have lost that 20 so great job! Keep your momentum by continuing to think of this life as a journey and we all have our bumps in the road but we can all get over this with positive minds.

I hope these points can help you daily like it does for me. I’m human I have the same ups and downs and believe me my life has never been perfect. What I do know is with a positive mind and attitude towards others and knowing what is best for yourself will get you further than being down on yourself or giving up. If you feel like giving up please don’t , reach out to me I would be happy to help you get over any obstacle you are facing and be that positive friend you may need!

Healthfully Yours,
